All Bands Should Take Names from Photoshop

December 11th, 2008 Posted in Entertainment

WARNING: Non-Parent Content: Time and time again my co-workers and I talk about how many great band names are out there for the taking in Photoshop.  Yeah you won’t find names like Red Hot Chili Peppers or The Rolling Stones but you will get some hidden gems like Gaussian Blur.

Now I know this is far away from parenting, but if you’re in a band with a bad name, here’s a list of great names, all taken from Adobe’s Photoshop.  I’m also offering these up under Creative Commons so if you like it it’s all yours.  In fact, if you’re a band and you use one of these names, I’ll post one of your songs here!

So without delay, the best band names of Photoshop…

  1. Gaussian Blur
  2. Color Halftone
  3. Despeckle
  4. Gamut Warning
  5. Desaturation
  6. Quick Mask
  7. Step Backward
  8. Angled Strokes
  9. Vector Mask
  10. Diffuse
  11. High Pass
  12. Auto Levels
  13. Histogram
  14. Color Burn
  15. Hard Mix
  16. Gradient Overlay
  17. Satin
  18. Anti-Aliased
  19. New Style
  20. Polygonal Lasso

This list is just the begining of some great hidden band names in Photoshop.  Leave a comment down below if you’ve got more.  Also, if you choose one of these great band names, I’ll post and promote your new “Photoshop Inspired” band here.

Don’t forget the goth band: Inner Shadow

Vector Mask is GREAT find! and Polygonal Lasso sounds like a techno-country group…

If I may add - Crosshatch, Mosaic Tiles, and Difference Clouds (if thats not a Dashboard Confessional cover band name, I dont know what is!),

Thanks Dan and Juzzy. Inner Shadow rocks, I think I saw them in college.

This is great! What a fun read that sent music tones throughout my head. For fun, I looked up Step Backward, and they really are a band if you add an “s” at the end!

Thanks for sharing! This was fun and made me want to open Photoshop and crank the tunes!

I’d pay to go see the Hidden Layers!!!

My favorites would have to be “Angled Strokes”, “Diffuse”, “High Pass”, “Hard Mix” and “Vector Mask”.

How about “Overlay”, “Smart Objects”, and “New Paths”?

Juzzy, your Crosshatch left me with the unfortunate image of a duet by Christopher Cross and Orrin Hatch. Think I’ll have to listen to some Torn Edges so I can move on.

Those names are ’shooped. I can tell from the pixels.

Nope, all of those names came directly from Photoshop. Open up the program and check it out for yourself.
