The Dolly Parton Imagination Library

October 27th, 2008 Posted in Entertainment, General Parenting

Congratulations, you’re having a kid!  Before you even register at Babies R Us, Go to ImaginationLibrary.com and sign up for the single greatest program ever for your little Einstein.

Back in 1996 Dolly Parton was looking for a way to foster reading with the children in her home-town of Sevier County, Tennessee and launched her Imagination Library.

Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Sign up for free.
Step 2: Get a free book every month for five years!

After signing up, the first book you’ll receive is “The Little Engine that Could.”  After that each month a new age appropriate book comes in the mail.  The specific book may vary, but they’re all the great ones we remember as kids and some new great ones.  Just a few of our daughter’s favorites include:

These are just a few of the ones she loves and if you add up the price on Amazon, you would pay nearly $70 on your own for these classic children’s books.  With Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, they’re 100% free.  I can’t imagine the total value we’ve gotten over the past two years.  Probably $300 worth of books and priceless moments reading them as with our daughter as soon as they came in the mail.

We’re so impressed with Dolly for creating such a great program.  She is one of the few celebrities that has really gone out of her way to make a positive impact on the world and is a great example to the other celebrity-types out there.

Getting kids reading early is fundamental in a great lifetime love of books and education and this program is the perfect way to help your child to start reading. You can sign up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library by visiting ImaginationLibrary.com.

We love our Imagination Library books. I love that you can sign up all kids under 5 in the same family. We have 2 little boys getting different books each month. What a great program!
